Editorial policy

The record and our explanation of it should be easy to tell apart.

Attribution and scope

Docket descriptions and document images are presented as records from the identified case. Our case overview and reader guides provide navigation and context. Allegations are not presented as judicial findings, and separate proceedings are not combined solely because they involve the same person.

Dates and completeness

Each case identifies its capture date. We preserve filing and docket dates when both are shown. A missing document image is described as unavailable, without inferring sealing, confidentiality, or a reason not stated in the record.

Original files and machine-recognized text

Original PDFs are retained separately. Searchable copies add text to scans while preserving their visible page images. Machine-recognized text can contain mistakes and should be checked against the image before quoting. We do not describe OCR as a certified transcript.

Corrections

Readers can report a mismatched document, incorrect description, broken viewer, or OCR error through the contact form. Include the case number, filing reference, PDF page, and the specific issue. An error in our own description can be corrected; an error appearing in the source document should be identified without silently rewriting the original page.

Privacy and sensitive material

Public availability does not make every detail necessary to repeat in an overview. We avoid adding unrelated personal information to our explanations. Use the contact form to flag a privacy concern, a redaction issue, or a change in a record’s availability. Please describe the location of the concern without sending additional sensitive records.

Advertising

eCourt Records does not display advertising. Any future ads must be distinguishable from case records and navigation. Advertising would not establish the accuracy of a filing or imply endorsement by a court or a party.
